Ebb and Flow

For quite a while, I stopped posting things on my various blogs and sites. No clearcut reason. I would just think about making a blog entry, or updating my reference sites, and end up with a Nahhh...not now.  Just part of the ebb and flow of one's creative energies, I suppose.

Part of the problem, though, has been the ebb and flow of my internet earnings. I am closer and closer to my goal of $200 per day in online income, but success is making me lazy. There's something about the magic of residual income. I can sit and do nothing (which is exactly what I have been doing!) and the daily earnings still roll in.

Even as some of my online sources have ebbed quite a bit, others are flowing like gangbusters. If I make the effort at Demand Studios to write four or five articles a day, I can reach the $200 a day mark, easy. It's the effort part that's become a challenge.

On the ebbing side of things, I don't know what's become of my direct Adsense earnings. They used to be a reliable source of about $25 per day but now I'm having a hard time breaking out of single-digits. And work at the online Q&A site, Uclue, has also been much slower than usual, as have earnings, of course.

But at my old standby, eHow, income has blossomed. Two of my eHow articles -- two that I've written about earlier -- are bringing in an amazing $15 a day...each!  Total eHow earnings are running about $75 a day now.

Will it last? I suspect it's going to grow, actually. One of my articles on making money online looks to be something of a breakout article. It gets a few thousand views every day, and the views have been increasing. I think (more to the point, I hope) this means that word is getting around, and more and more people are coming to have a look. If views continue to increase, earnings should climb as well.

Which means, of course, that I'll just get lazier and lazier. But I will try to get back here before too long for another post.

  1. Glad you got busy and wrote this blog post before getting TOO lazy, David. Nice to hear your $200 goal is in sight more often with less effort!

  2. You are ever an icon of "If he can do it, I can do it"ness. Am still working on $200 a month.

  3. Could you please add an email subscription to your blog so I can be notified when you finally get out of your "laziness" stage and write something else.

FYI: It's always a pleasure to read what you have to say. You are one of the people on eHow who inspired me to start a blog, which by the way is truly blossoming (not so much money wise, but in every other way)!

  4. Wow!! I see that you put a lot of effort into your making money on the Internet article. You even updated your introduction to say it was updated autumn 2010 and to check back for updates. That is a smart move. Keep up the good work!

  5. David, that's impressive. I've been aiming to hit $1,000 per month on eHow. I haven't quite broken $100 yet. I have a ways to go. Thanks for sharing. I'm looking at your articles as a success story to inspire me.

  6. Way to go David, your earnings are impressive. My residual income brings me about $60 per day and the rest I have to make doing work for Demand Media and private clients. I still have a long way before I can catch up to you! Your reports are truly inspirational.

  7. You really do have a way with words. I sure do understand the lazy days though. I think most of us writers can actually relate quite well to that statement. Anyhow, thanks for getting up and writing the post, I too have been inspired by what you have to say.

  8. I'm with Peg. I wondered if you were getting lazy as I checked your blog and nope, nada. I am interested to see you creeping upwards towards your goal of 200 per day, and find it equally fascinating that you CAN get lazier and your income is STILL increasing !

  9. David don't get too lazy I love reading your posts. I with Peg and Shirley I keep checking to see when you write something new. The way you write you should be at your goal in no time at all. I'm cheering on the sidelines for you. Now if I could just find another ehow I would be okay.

  10. I found your blog because it would be great to make some money online. Living in a state with a 12% unemployment rate is tough. I would be happy just making 50 bucks a day blogging in addition to my part time job. Totally just a dream at this point but hey life would be boring if we didn't chase our dreams :)

  11. I love your blog lots of useful information. I've added it to my favorite bookmarks and subscribed in a reader.

All these issues are important, and that's why I just started blogging a while ago and it feels great.

    Kind Regards

  12. David, I'd love to read an update! I just posted about my Nov. and Dec. eHow earnings (and mentioned you). In November my earnings averaged $95/day just from eHow. Crazy, right?!

  13. Wow David,

That's amazing! I hope you keep it up.

As for me - My earnings on eHow also seem to be increasing at a rapid pace (though no where near your income - I still have backlinking to do).

Once I start backlinking to my top articles for a bit (to help them rank higher), I should see a massive increase in earnings.

We'll see how things go! Thanks for the inspiration. :)

  14. Aw..I guess I came too late to the table. I applied at Demand/ehow tonight, submitted samples from my Squidoo articles and 30 seconds later, received a thanks but no thanks email. Makes me wonder if they even have time to read submissions anymore. They say they are swamped and now have to be exacting. I'm so disappointed. But I'm happy for you. Keep up the great work.
